RECREATION GROUNDS BOARD
The ordinary monthly meeting of tile Recreation Grounds Trustees was held last night. Present: Messrs. R. Cock (chairman), K. C. Hughes, W. L. Xewman, H. Ford, G. Tiscli, F. Bellringer, A. E. Watkins, and E. il. Tribe (secretary ). « Messrs. F. 1\ Corkill and S. Percy-Smith were granted Jeave of absence through illness, and three months' extension oi leave was granted to Mr. C. W. (iovctt, *who is absent in England.
The curator in his report of the work of the Inontll acknowledged the receipt of plant* and trees from Mesdiunes Kennv, Kelly, Sandford, Fraser, Messrs. Newton King, Cock, a resident of Kawhia. and an anonymous resident of New riymouth. The secretary reported a bank overdraft of £lO3 13s (id. I The return in connection with 'the recent performance of " The Magistrate' amounted to £33 17s, and the expenses £l9 1)«, leaving a balance for the Board of £l4 6s. The total «ul«criptions in sonnection with the unemployed fund amounted to £34 17s. To this Bum had to be added the balance of £l4 6s already referred to, making a total of £49 3s. The total amount expended was '£s3 Is 6d. Mr. H. Munro, Noxious Weeds Inspector, drew attention to the necessity for Cutting gorse on the roads bounding the grounds.—Referred to the chairman. Votes of thanks were recorded to donors of plants and bulbs, to those taking part in the production of "The Magistrate," and to the auditor, Mr. A. Harle.
