The following report was presented:— The committee, in presenting its report for the past season, lias the pleasure of once more congratulating members on the prosperity of tlie club. The financial statement shows a credit balance of £37 13s Id. This is most satisfactory, especially so when it is romembered that, in addition to tho ordinary expenses of the year, various additional
expenses, including cost of painting the pavilion, alterations and improvements to pavilion and building shed for bicycles, have been paid out of this year's revenue. It will be remembered that at the beginning of last sason it was decided to limit the membership to 110, and this limit was reached during the' year, but owing to resignations and other causes the membership now stands at 105. During the year the usual club matches were played aud resulted in Mr. S. Rundle winning the champion cup, Messrs. T. Avery and Jeukinson the pairs handicap, Mr. A. K. Smart the singles, with Mr. H. Smart runner-up; and Dr. Blaekley the beginners' handicap. Home and home interclub matches were played with Stratford, Fitzroy, Waitara and Inglewood, and on; matcn against Hawera on our green. All these matches were won by the New Plymouth Club excepting the Hawera match, which was won, by Hawera. The Tarajiaki Bowling Association tournament was played on Stratford Club green. The representatives of the Pihania Club are
to be congratulated on having gained first place, our own club being second. A team oi four rinks visited Auckland at Easter and had a niooi, enjoyable trip. Matches were played with Auckland, Devonport, Carlton, Remuera,and Ponsonby Clubs. All these matches were won by the home clubs, excepting that against tlie champion club Curl 0 ton, which was won by the New Plymouth team. It is expected that some of,these cluha will meet us on our own green during the coming season. The hearty thanks of th e club are due to our president, Mr. R. Cock, for his donation of a very handsome Iward recording 'the names of the presidents, vice-preisdents, and secretaries of the club since its formation. Mr. T. Avery offered a fine stationery case, and Mr. J. Avery promised a second prize for a special club match, but circumstances prevented the match being played last season, but it is hpoed it will be played during the approaching season. The thanks of the club are due to those gentlemen, and also to Mr. C. W. Govett aud Mr. L. Bullot, who each donated £1 Is. It is with deep regret that we have to record the death of our late esteemed comrade, Mr. Ad. Goldwater.
The balance-sheet showed total receipts, including £l6 9s lOd brought forward ifroin the previous year, to have been £295 17s Id. After meeting the ordinary expenses and the cost of painting pavilion, alterations, repairs, and building bicycle shed, there remained a balance of £37 13s Id ,to carry forward.
The report and balance-sheet were adopted, and bonuses voted to the lion, secretary and caretaker. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr. G. Grey; vice-presidents, Messrs. M. Frascr and H. N. Goldwater; committee, Messrs Hall, Firth, A. Goldwater, Penn, Smart, and Cock; secretary, Mr. Ewing; auditor, Mr. C Airier. A proposal to withdraw from the Northern Bowling Association, on account of the decision of the Association to in future make tlie annual tournaments rink tournaments instead of club tournaments, and allow clubs to enter any number, of rinks, was defeated. Several new members were nominated. Votes of thank's were passed to the retiring officers, the ladies, the press and donors of prizes. Tlie prizes for last year's dub competitions were presented, and offers of prizes for the coming season were received from Messrs. Grey, Jenkinson, Ewing, and Firth, the latter on behalf of the Westport Coal Company. Suggestions were made to'the incoming coinmltteo that a merit boar 4 be procured, to he inscribed with 'the names of the cluh champion and. a, ekkmoion
