DETAINED AT 'FRISCO.
THE LOT OK THE MAORIS. By Telegram- i ■'■-. a Association. Wellington, September 2. The Evening Post's correspondent at San Francisco reports that seventeen Maoris of the haka troupe for the New York Hippodrome were detained at San Francisco, said to he suffering irom trachoma, an eye disease. Medical advice called by the representatives of the Maoris, the ship, and the Hippodrome niunngi'incnt, was to the effect that the Maoris were free from disease. A deadlock ensued owing to the landing of the Maori suspects being refused. When the mail left an independent medical man was to be called in to diagnose the cases. THE MAORIS ALLOWED TO LAND.
Wellington, Last Night. All the Maori entvrtaincrs were allowed to hind at San Francisco. Two other New Zealamlers, however, who went by the same boat, were stopped becaus they suffered from trachoma, and had to return to New Zealand.
