A meetbg of the Fanners' Union will be held ill the 'hall on Monday night next, 6th September. \ The contractor, Mr. Grayling, is making good progress with the chocse factory. Most of the concrete is completed, and nearly aW the frame of the building is (erected, while the ancn's cottage is nearly completed. Mr. Grayling, I understand, reckons to haive the buildings complctod by about th© middle of the month. The Ncwcll road buildings arc also well on the way. The weather for some time past has been very unsettled, and consequently there ie mud aiid slush everywhere.

POHOKURA. The main road im hero is in a very bad state. It takes five good horses and a waggon to bring in 15mvt. It costs just about as much to cart the produce as the produce itself costs. The Public Works Department is pushing on the railway wotlcs through Poliokura- very JVist. There must bo about four Hundred men working between' Poliokura and Whnngamomoim saddles, and men are arriving from the Stratford end daily. All the formation is near completion up to the Poliokura tunnel. I should think the train will lie Tunning this far in involve months' time. It will be a great boon for the settlers here when that day arrives. The lambing season has arrived, and there should 'be a good percentage of lambs.
