NOTES ON THE MEETING. "Moturoa," who is attending the meeting, wired last night:— Continuous rain rendered the Mar ton course a quagmire, spoiling the racing end upsetting several favorites. Kareroa led the Shorts Handicap fiehl right up to the distance, Lady Medallist corning brilliantly anil winning by a long neck, with the favorite Iney "a poor third. Nicotine was tovct prominent. The finish between Maggie Paul and Wirral in the Trial Hurdles was interesting, the Taranaki mare winning nie.'ly. Drudgery led to the straight, finishing fourth.
