The Corinna, which was due to Srive here on Friday, has been, delayed in the South and will consequently net arrive here until Saturday. STRANDED STEAMER RELAUNCHED. The steamer Jane Douglas, which went ashore at Okarito some timo ago and was dragged up on to the beach for repairs, was launched into the Okalito lagoon last week. The launching operations were carried out by Mr. Walter Smith and Captain Irvine. The Okarito bar is unworkable at the present lime, but it is expected that it will soon improve, when the steamer will immediately leave for,Hokitika.

COAL FOR GERMAN WARSHIPS. Captain Aronsen, who has just completed the round trip between Westport and .the German South. Sea. Islands in his barque, the Saturnus, informs an exchange that the coal as used by the German warships. Four of these boats were expected shortly, and large stocks of coal were laid in (including a cargo from Newcastle), but only one steamer arrived, and now the depot is overstocked. The German engineers much prefer Westport coal, and their Navy Department is willing to pay a better prico than for the Newcastle article. Th!re arc only eight Europeans at Matupi (-even Germans and a Queenslander). Kanakas do the coal work, and labor very hard. The water on the island is very bail, and consequently a good deal of liquor is drunk.

UNPROFITABLE JUNES. . The annual Teport of the International Mercantile Marine Company of America, which embraces the American Red Star, the White Star, Dominion, and Atlantic transport lines, states that there is no dividend to declare. This big combine has uot paid a dividend siucu its inception in 1905. The Mersey training ship is one of the company's pet schemes. The company jointly owns with the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company the well-known steamers Aotea, Arawa, Athenic, Corinthic, Delphic, lonic, Karamea, Kuniara, Marnari and Tainui. The annual report says:—"The general trade between Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand has suffered in conjunction with all other trades, and, therefore, the earnings of your steamers in that trade have not been as satisfactory as previously."
