(From Our Own Correspondents.) WAREA. . At a meeting of the school committee on Satin-day night Mr. Harry PcHiam was elected secretary and treasurer m place of Mr. C. H. King. It w,m resolved thai the sub-committee se» to having gravel put in the gateway and around I he school, where the teacher has asked for it. It was also resolved that the sub-committee inspect the school grounds and see whether it -would be advisable to plough part or whole of the fern ground, and report at the next meeting. It was decided to call tenders for the erection of a. new fence around the school on Burgess road. A meeting of the hall guarantors and sub-committee was held at the hall on Saturday night. Mr. T. Julian, sen., was in the chair. Mr. 11. Pelham was elected .secretary in place of Mr. C. 11. King, who has left the district. Mr. Moore, the Education Board foreman, and Mr. Scott sire at present repairing the school, fixing tanks, windows, and putting up blinds on the north side of the building. ' Mr. S. Dalrymple, the (iovernment Jn. s-peetor of Machinery, ',vas on his ann.ial visit here last week, inspecting the boiler and machinery at the factory and private plants.

Archbishop Redwood, who is on visitation to this part of Taranaki, administered confirmation to tiiiricen candidates at St. Patrick's I'liur.-h, YVailnra, on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.™., in the presence -of a large congregation. Before the ceremony iiis firace addressed the candidates at some length, reminding them of their further responsibilities, and asked them to model their lives so that they might become faithful Christians and good citizens. After the ceremony. Pontifical Benediction of the. Blessed Sacrament was given by the Archbishop, assisted by the Rev. Dean McKonna and the Key. Father McMnnus. During this service the choir sang the "0 Salutaris Ilostia" (Strnda), * Litany of Loretto," "Tantum Ergo Sacrmnentum" ("Murphy), and the motet " Adoremus in Etemum" 'in a pleasing manner.
