COMPEXSATIOX CASES. By Telograpli.-Press Associatifln. _, Wellington, Monday. The Arbitration Court bid before It today a number of claims for comoeasation arising out of the wreck'of th» Penguin i n February last. The claim* were generally admitted, till only quellion being tlhc amount of compensation to be paid. In the ease Albert George Loosemore, , third officer, the Union Company agreed ■ to pay £SOO to the Public Trustee for the benefit of the widow. In the case of a claim by the parent* and brother of Walter Rentottl, engineer, Mr. Justice Sim mid when the Court was property constituted by the appointment of a successor to the late Mr. S. Brown, the employers' representative, it would probably make an order on the basis of £135 and costs. An order was made by consent for the payment of £207 to "the nwMier of Francis Driseoll, second officer. The Court stated that in the case of a claim by the mother of the late Mrs. < Hope, stewardess, it was prepared to make an order for £72 compensation It necessary. His Honor nvas informed that several claims had been settled out of Court. The hearing of other claims against the Union Company .was adjourned tfU Thursday.
