Mr. O. C. Pleasants, Liberal candidate for the Oroua seat at the last election, has been presented with a puree of sovereigns from the Liberals of the district.

An old resident, in the person of Mr. George Thomas, passed away on Thursday morning, at Te Kiri, at the age of 75 years. The deceased was a member of the old A.C. Force. Arundel Orchard), to be performed at the 150 th concert of the Sydney Liedtertafel. The stall' of the Opunnke Co-operative Dairy Company met at Mr. D. Markham's office on Wednesday evening for the purpose of making a presentation to Mr. R. O'Dea, the manager, on the eve of his wedding. Mr. Markhnni, the secretary of the company, said Mr. O'Dea had been manager since May 3, 1900', and from his personal experience | he could say that everything had run smoothly during that time, on account | of the way the staff had worked together. At the Stratford District High School on Friday, Miss Mary Webb, M.A., who is severing her connection with the teaching staff, was entertained by the girls of the High School and made the recipient of several presentations. On behalf of the teachers Mr. Sole presented Miss Webb with a Doulton ware tea set, on bchnlf of the boys a cutglass silver-mounted cruet in case and a pair of cut-glass vases, and on behalf of the Master of Science and Masters Kirkby, Hudson, Wylio and Symes, the four senior pupils, n case of silver-ware. The girll of the school presented Miss Welib with an artistically-designed silver kettle.
