TARIKI. Piscatorial affairs are looking lir'jrlitcr in this locality for the near future. We have a number of really line trout streams which only need better stocking to afford excellent sport. The Acclimatisation Society has donated 10,000 fry for this purpose, and a few of those interested met recently to construct a fish pond to accommodate these, under the superintejidonee of Mr. C. Young, an energetic member of the Society's committee. The site selected is an excellent one, situated on Mr. Vaughin Darkness' farm, close to the beautiful homestead, where a dam will allow for n good fall and flow of water, ilic pond, which was constructed with suli stantial l'/ 2 in. planking, is 20 feet l.mjj by 3 feet wide and 3 feet deep, and the manned in which the work has been tarried out reflects great credit on those engaged on it, amongst whom were Messrs. C. Young, V. Harkncss', .Tmld, Stratford, and Stephenson. I understand the fry will shortly be placed in it urn liberated in the streams about Christ mas, by which time they will be sulliiicntly grown to look after themselves. The concert in aid of th- Waipukn , Church organ fund held on tiie 2th in-st. 1 was a great success, and a >ul)s L ;i:ii!:i. I sum was netted by the trustees. Tie Rev. C. S. Howie presided and made an excellent chairman, besides rendcrim; valuable assistance in the programme. The dialogue in the second part was very good, and the general opinion is that it was quite the best of its' kind that has been staged on the local boards for many a long day. The parts were taken by Mrs. Rudkm, the Misses C. K and R. Coutts, and Messrs. V. Randford, Hancock, Jameson and li. Eason, who received quite an ovation at the fall of the curtain.
