The new French military dirigible balloon "Lebcrte," of 135.h'orsc-power, designed by Lebandy, made a successful trial flight at Nantes. It attained a speed of 33 miles an hour, carrying seven passengers.
At the Rheims tests, M. Farman cover 112 miles in 3 hours 4min 56y a scc, and wins the Grand Prize, of a value of £2OOO. Latham won the second pvize of £IOOO, and Paulham the third jrize, £400,.

AN AUSTRALIAN APPEAL. Sydney, August 28. A meeting of tiie Aerial League decided to appeal to tile public for subscriptions amounting to i'SOOH to supplement a similar amount offered by the Federal Government to encourage Australian inventors in aerial navigation.
