IMPROVEMENTS" AT r.ISBORXE. The following notice of motion for the nest meeting of the Gisborne Harbor Board lias been lodged with the secretary bv Mr. W. D. S. McDonald. M.P : "That the. Board obtain plans and estimates for. the extension of the present breakwater, either by open pile work er other means, as it may lie advised, to the 'requital length to limit the range, which, it is admitted, is at present n grave danger to navigation. Note A.— The time has arrived when the Hoard must recognise the serious responsibility which r<ret» upon it, owing to' the absolute, rfek oflife involved under the present conditions, which those in convoying passengers t} and from onr roadstead are unable to control. Note B.— As matters are at it is obvious that the new dredge on its arrival will be imable to give, the satisfactory re suit which is anticipated and desired bv this Board. Note C—When the plais and estimate* hare been considered by the Hoard and unproved by 'the Marino Department, .the. Board can consider the ways and means of earning out the same."
