MISHAP TO THE WAIPARA.
XO EXCITEMENT. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyrigit Brisbane, August 27. Splendid discipline was displayed on board the Waipara. The boats were swung out and lifebelts served out jn a few minutes. The vessel had hardly gathered way after discharging the pilot when she struck. The pilot immediately boarded her again and drove her on a beach two miles distant. Fortunately the water did not invade the engine-room and so permitted this to be done. : There was no excitement among the ] passengers. HER POSITION CONSIDERED SAFE. Received 28, 12.30 p.m. ISrisbane, August 27. The Waipara's position, is considered safe, unless heavy northerly winds supervene. The wool cargo is being lightered. The frozen meat in three I of the holds is considerably damaged.
