MULI HAI'TD'S REVENGE. By Cable.—PreßS Association.—Copyrign London, Angina -■>. The British Consul at Fez lias protested against Muli Haiid's cruelties to the Pretender's followers. Mr. Brough, the Standard's correspondent at Fez, reports that Mull Haftd ordered the right hand of each man and woman to !> c cut off and tlic slump plunged into boiling pitch. Two important prisoners were ordered to lose their right hands, and right feet and have their teeth drawn.
'Another correspondent declares, that one was ordered to have his lower j.iw shattered by a blow from a hammer; another to have his eyes gouged nut; a third to have the palm of one of his hands slashed, then salted and sewn np in a leather glove.
SULTAN' REMONSTRATED WITH. A COLLECTIVE PROTEST. A PRETENDER CAPTURED. Received 20, 9.30 p.m. Morocco. August 20. The I rench Consul at Fez strongly remonstrated with the Sultan over the atrocities. _ Diplomatists at Tangier are consider; m ? advisability of a collective protest. .
M. Piclimi (French Minister for Foteign Affairs) has instructed M. Renault, French Minister at Morocco, to support the protest. Reuters Tangier representative reports that Ruhamara, u pretender, was raptured in a mosque at Benimssra. tribesmen from that countrv are now being conducted in chains to Fez.
