The Rosamond arrived here yesterday morning from Onehunga and sailed [or Wellington at 11.30 with about seven tons of cargo.

The Rarawa left Onehunga yesterday afternoon on a special trip to Xcw T"yinnntli, with the 'Mack and Jill" Pantomime Company on hoard. She sails again for North this evening, returning on Friday. She resumes her usual biweekly running next week. The Marine Department has been acl/iscd that the magisterial enquiry concerning the mishap to the Kara wife boiler will be held at Auckland next 1-i-idav. The enquiry is causing considerable interest in Auckland shipping (ircles. Since the mishap the third ■■ngineer has resigned from the service. Mr. A. E. Jlacindoe is the chief engineer of the vessel, and his evidence is expected to be of an interesting nature.

A NEW LINER FOR N.Z. TRADE. Advice lins been received of the successful launching of the New Zealand Shipping Company's new steamer KunJiine, at Messrs Win. Denny and Son's yards at Dumbarton. The new vessei, which is to be put on the London-New Zealand direct trade, will bo the largest vessel in the company's fleet, and when completed will be one of the best-ap-pointed steamers in the trade, providing accommodation for first, second and third-class passengers. Particulars oF the Rnahinc's construction are not yet available, but in general design she has been built specially for the New Zealand trade, and is a twin-screw vessel, with a good turn of speed. From present advices it is anticipated that the vessel will leave London on her maiden voyage on November 28, and she U timed to sail from New Zealand for London in February. She will be under the command o! Captain 11. E. ftrecnstreet, who is at present on the R.M.S. Rimutilka.

A conference of Belgian financiers is to he held at Antwerp shortly for the purpose of forming a Steam Navigation Company for running lines from Antwerp to the United States.
