LONDON WAREHOUSE RANSACKED IN DAYLIGHT. A PLUCKY WATCHMAN. NUMBER OF THIEVES CAPTURED. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyriga Received 23, 1),5 p.m. London, August 23. Using a duplicate key, ten smartlydressed men entered Mapnin and WeuVs warehouse, at Cheapside, on Sunday al ternoon. With a jemmy they assaulted tii» watchman to prevent him raising an alarm, inflicting serious wounds on iu« head. | Five of them escaped, but the watchman, crawling to the entrance, shouted for the police, and the five others, emerging with several thousands pound« worth of jewellery and plate, were arrested. They had in their pockeU masks and gioves, the latter intended to conceal their finger-prints. Seven thousand pounds worth of goods were found packed on the premises ready for removal. The capture is regarded as of considerable importance.
