AMUSEMENTS.

JACK AND JILL. Mr. J. C. Williamson's pantomime has achieved sensational success in Australia and throughout New Zealand. It is said to display a remarkable profusion of special features for the delectation of theatregoers. Those which appeal particularly to 'the children are the Teddy Hear Picnic, Noah's Ark Quadrilles, Pony Ballet, the Giant Rooster, the Children who lived in a Shoe, and the amaz:ng Giant Family. The chief spectacular features which appeal to young and old alike are the Butterfly Ballet, the Grand Snow Storm Ballet, and the Electric Ballet. The Palace of Precious Stones and Grand March of the Jewels arc items which have called forth the most enthusiastic and absolutely unqualified praise. The comedy in -which the pantomime abounds is in the capable hands of Messrs. J. M. Campbell, Fred Leslie, Victor Loydell, Clyde Cook, Rupert Dar-1 rell, and other clever comedians. The music is reported to be eaMiy and tuneful to a degree. There arc over 200 people in all engaged in the production. Booking of reserved seats still progresses apace. The thca tregoing public evidently anticipates a great treat, and the hope is not 'without foundation. The Melbourne ncrald say*: " We have seen many brilliant pantomime productions, but Jack and Jill is a little more brilliant in its kaleidoscopic coloring, a little richer in novelty, a little more entertaining than any other pantomime previously staged by' Mr. J. C. Williamson. Jack and Jill sparkles with specla .-iilur wealth and bubbles with clever comedy until the audience is completely infected with admiration and lighthearted laughter. Dainty and bright music, glittering and graceful .ballets, ensembles, and merry side shows adorn the simple old nursery story. There will be a special matinee performance at 1.45 on Thursday afternoon. The evening performances on Wednesday and Thursday begins at 7.43 sharp.
