CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS New Zealand .. .. V/% New South Wales .. 5 •Victoria 2'/ 2 Other States .. ..0 NOTES. The success of the Dominion representative« is exceedingly gratifying, and is beyond expectations, especially when it is remembered that four of the team selected—Haskins, Orbell, Murray and Wallace—had to decline the engagement. Out of ten starts in championship events, the New Zealanders .won seven outright and tied in the eighth. Of the other two events, our representative in the mile race was unplaced, while Keddell, who had a heavy programme to fill, finished second in the Broad Jump : ' The performance of the New Zealanders was all the more remarkable when it is remembered that at this time of the year the men could scarcely be expected to do their best, the opportunities of training during a New Zealand winter being few. The success of Harry Kerr, of Tariki, j a annexing both the one and three-mile championship walks, will be extremely gratifying to Taranaki supporters. Kerr ■was not over well three weeks ago, having receiver an injury in the last Inglewood football match. Probably the surprise of the meeting was Woodger"s easy win over Barker in the 100 and 223 yards. , New Zealand was unrepresented in the half-mile, throwing the hammer, high-jump and quarter-mile, and it is lot certain whether L. McKay competed in putting the 161b shot. stw Zealand was represented by seven rwmpetitors at the meeting, Victoria by 11. Tasmania 3, Quensland 21, and New f.rnrh Wales 15. The events won by New Zealand were IflOvds. 220 yds, 3-niile, one and threejji . walks, HO and 440 hurdles, and yoie v.'.ult.
