CHURCH ATTENDANCE.

To the Editor. Sir,—'! notice that the Rev. S. S. Osborne referred to the deplorable fallingoff of church attendance. I can speak for myself, and wi9h to say that as far as the rev. speaker is concerned my remarks do not apply to his church, as I am not a member of his. congregation and seldom attend the Scots Church here. 1 My remarks apply to St. Mary's Church-of England, to which I belong. Certain new-fangled parsons have introduced' into the service an absurd attempt at intonation of the prayers, and I have seen a parson cross himself in imitation of the R.C. clergy. We had none of these things in the days of the Veto. Archdeacon Govett or the Rev. Mr. Brown. Then why do the congregation put up with it now? I stay away, and intend to keep away. There is a thoroughness. in the intoning of the K.C. priest that cannot be imitated in any namby-pamby manner, and, besides, he intones in a language far more suitable to that kind of worship than English can ever be. If one attends the RX3. Church one expects to see the priest cross himself and intone the prayers, lieeanse it is the rule of the service, but any vile imitation in a Protestant Church is enough to make members . STAY AWAY.
