At the Supreme Court to-day Patri-jk Arthur and James Dulton pleaded not guilty to conspiracy with one "Snowy" Sincock to defraud Henry Urn, The men had played the "three-card tricK," Uru losing £IBB, including a cheque for £.7, which Dalton subsequently presented at the Bank. A warrant had been issued for the arrest of Sincock, but he | disappeared. After hearing evidence at length, the jury found both guilty. The Judge, considering accused had been' three months in gaol already, ordered Arthur to stand down, but sent Dalton to gaol for nine months. Christchurch, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day, Frederick Marshall was indicted that on 51ay 9th, 1908, being the servant of the United Farmers' Coal Co., Ltd., he stole £2 4s of the moneys of the company. | There was a second count that on June 26th, 1908, at Ashburton, accused Stole the sum of £OO belonging to the company. The trial was not concluded when the Court rose for the day.

AUCKLAND SESSIONS. Auckland, Last Night. The hearing of a charge of arson preferred against Wilson Stuart Adams, formerly night watchman at the Mitchelson Timber Company's mill at Owhata, in connection with the burning of a schoolhouse and another building, was concluded at the Supreme Court today, a verdict of not guilty being returned.

DUNEDTN SESSIONS. Dunetlin, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day Frederick Matthews', who was convicted of breaking and entering and theft, was to-day found guilty on a charge of receiving stolen property. He was sentenced to three years' imprisonment, and warned that he would he declared an habitual criminal if he came before the Court again. Michael Coleman, convicted on a charge of assaulting Constable Daubly so as to cause him actual bodily hann, was sentenced to twelve mouths'.
