WATERSIDE WORKERS' CONFERENCE.

Wellington, August 17. -Hie Waterside Workers' Conference was continued to-day. A motion was passed urging the Government to tak; oyer the Lyttclton-Wcllington ferry service. A motion was also passed iirgin» the Government to make better pro"vision for the inspection of ship's gear, and that all chain gear be inspected and stamped at least every six mouths. The delegates urged the Government to re-enact clause 5 of the original Arbitration Act, allowing two employers or seven workers to form employers' or workers' unions respectively. The last amendment to the Act increased the numbers to three and fifteen respectively I Another resolution affirmed the principle of crib time and that workers should be paid their wages in employers' time
