Robson, Attorney-General, said an owner had'already!a remedy against a tenant for failing to develop the land, and the amount o] duty* he paid would be included In the damages awarded.
The Hon. Lyulph Stanley declared that the Government's' course was interesting. 'Die amendment, he said, put a very severe strain on' bis party loyalty. Mr. A J. Balfour, Leader of the Opposition, who wits much > cheered, remarked: ''According to the AttorneyGeneral an owner is compelled to pay duty because a tenant has not fulfilled his obligations, and we must launch a lawsuit to evict this landlord who expects to enforce his rights to the uttermost farthing. This, forsooth, is the | advice of a Government whose members are described as landlords and as blackmailers."
