WAITARA HARBOR BOARD

The monthly meeting of the Waitara Harbor Board was held here on Friday evening. Present: Mesara. Mubiis (chairman), Spurdlc, Chappell anil Jenkins.

The Minister for Marine wrote advising the Board that Messrs. H. Chappell, W. T. Jennings, Ml'., ami U. li. Stubbs have been appointed the Government nominees to the Board. The Board's solicitor wrote askiii" the Board to agree to the transfer of .Mr. \V. Sampson's half interest of lease to Mr. It. Uribbon.

.Mrs. J. Williamson wrote informing tne Board that she wisi.ed to surrender her lease. The Board decided to accept the surrender.

Mr. \V. Suinpson wrote stating that lie was desirous of availing himself of the operations of the new leasing system, and asked the Board what the annual rental would be, pointing out that in comparison with otlur rentals he was at present paying a heavy rent, and asking that a reduction be made and iixed up as soon as possible. Mr. E. Knight wrote asking to be allowed to surrender his present lease and have a new lease prepared with a right of renewal.—Left to a sub-com-mittce to deal with.

A lafge amount of correspondence was read from the Harbor Boards' Association dealing with matters to be dealt with at the annual meeting of the Association next month.—lt was resolved that the chairman and Mr. .W. T. Jennings, M.P., be appointed the Boards delegates.

The Board decided to place a further £6OO at fixed deposit. The action of the chairman in granting permission to the Borough Council for removing stone from- the beach up to date was approved. The chairman, in accordance with notice of motion, moved that the Board instruct its solicitor to draft a Bill constituting the Waitara Harbor Board a local authority within the meaning of the Act, and that the Board foran a Harbor League, providing that members of the Board be members ex officio, and that a meeting of the League be held on Friday evening next to consider the Bill. Accounts amounting to £B4 his Id were passed for payment.
