There was a good attendance of members on Wednesday, and a lively interest shown in the visit' of .Mrs. K. h. Stevens'on, of New Plymouth on Ist and 2nd September. Managing committees were set up to carry out the arrangements for the reception to Mrs. Stevenson and visiting delegates to the District Convention, and for the public meeting. This lady has been visiting schools and colleges in many different countries, lecturing on scientific temperance instruction and kindred -themes. This world-round tour was undertaken under the auspices of the World's W.C.T.U. (of which Lady Carliso is president) to visit some of the unions which have been organised in over fifty nations. Being equipped with up-to-date scientific facts, coming as' she does of a family of scholars and clergymen, and she herself a {rifted speaker, she should be well worth listening to, "
