" TRUTH" IN TROUBLE. Telegraph.—Press Asaotiatioi. ' Ciiristchurch, Last Night. At the banco sitting of the Supreme •Court this morning, before Mr. Justice Denniston, Mr. Stringer, K.C., acting for the Crown* moved under section 432 of the Crimes Act, 1908, for commitment for contempt of court of John McKinnon, , manager of the weekly newspaper "Truth," in respect to publication by that journal of details of a certain in the Magistrate's Court on January 30th last, the Magistrate having made an order prohibiting the publication of the offence admitted. His Honor, in giving judgment, said the facts disclosed a, deliberate and impudent contempt of the court which Heard the case. Defendant would be fined £lO and costs. His Honor added that had the writer of the article been before the Court he would .have imposed a sentence of imprisonment.
