Wellington, August 11. 11l the Magistrate's Court, Richard Thomas Power, alias Frauds, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence on a number o! charges of break ing and entering business places in the city, and was gent to gaol for three, months on one charge of stealiii". Two informations have been laid by the collector of Customs against Se- . bastian Newson,' - (1) committing a breach of the Shipping and Seaman's Act by sending the vessel Rona to sea in such an unseaworthy sta.te that lives were likely to be endangered; and (2) of being a party to sending the Rona •to sea in an unworthy state. The cases were adjourned until to-morrow. CBRISTCHURCU CASES. Chrstchurch, Last Night. A man named George Finlay was coinniitted for sentence, to-day"on four in- ' formations of having, between November 10 and 18, 1908, sent A. Bloxhain, Omaraina, telegrams purporting to have been signed by .Tames Clark, with intent to defraud; and was further charged with having forged the signature 0 t James Clark to two money order tele grams and to two money order receipts. John Whitford, charged with having committed bigamy on April 28, pleaded guilty. He was committed for sentence.
