The Indian Budget shows a deficit of t'3,750,000 instead of an expected surplus of £1,500,000. The deficit is chiefly due to lower receipts <m railways caused by heavier working expenses.
AUSTRALIAN IMMIGRATION. London, August 8. -The Times has published a letter from Mr. Frank Pittoek, of Newcastle, New [south Wales, opposing emigration to Australia, on the ground that there Is iki land for umm;_'iant» and that there is a lack of employment.
