DAIRY COMPANIES' MEETINGS
1 TAIUKI. The annual' -meeting of the shareholders of the Tiu'iki Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., was held on the tlth inst. The statistics attached to the report showed that -the milk received for cheese-making totalled 4,532,771111). of an average teat of 3.92, giving 178.437.551b of butter-fat, and producing 4Go,ollib of cheese. It took 9.81b of milk to make a pound of cheese, and "2.1i1h of cheese was' made from each pound of fat. In butter-making the company treated 221,5111b of milk, average test 4.5, containing 10,058.4881b of butter-fat, from which was made 10,39& ib of butter; 21.21b of milk went to make each pound of butter. The total milk manufactured in the year was 4,774,2871'b, giving 188,5101b of fat. The balance-sheet showed that £9318 7s (id was paid for milk, £550 Os 5d for wages, and ,£477 18s Od for requisites. Cheese sold realised £11,303 4s fid, and that in stock wa£ estimated to be worth' £7B 3s 9d. Butter realised £521 17s 3d, and there was £o2,worth in stock. Total receipts were £11,956 10s Od. The report and balance-sheet were adopted as read. There were five nominations to fill the positions of the three retiring directors, and, a poll being taken. Messrs. llarkness, Stratford, arid llarkness were elected..
Mr. WatUin .proposed, and Mr. Hannan seconded, that the chairman should receive C2(l for his valuable services to the company, Thin motion, which would undoubtedly have been unanimously carried, the chairman declined to put to the meeting. He thanked tho movers for their kindness, but at the same time assured the shareholders' that he had not worked in the interest of the company with any idea of being paid. If they considered he hud served them faithfully, and he had their confidence, tliat was all he wished, and he was willing to serve them as long as he retained that confidence. (Applause.) Continuing. Mr. Knowles paid a high tribute to .Mr. McKlroy (the manage"') and the factory stall', and the response to his suggestion of three, hearty cheers was so strenuous as to temporarily overwhelm the sound of the raging elements oulside, to wit, thunder and hail.
Mr. W. DeG. Ogier was elected auditor, and Messrs'. J. Therkleson and I'. Horn acted as scrutineers for the poll. Mr. A. Lawrence was accorded a hearty vote, of thank* for his past services as a director, the chairman paving a warm tribute to the way Mr. Lawrence had done his duty as a director, and expressing his regret at losing him.
A resolution liy Mr. F. Kamford that no interest should lie jiaiil on paid-up capital for the ensiling year was earned, as were also two "resolutions regarding the alterations of articles of association.
At a meeting. of directors held the same evening Mr. J. Knowlca was reelected chairman.
