The Rimu was due to leave Waaganui for North last night, but as she lias a large cargo for Opunake, she is not expected to arrive here until Saturday, when she will load 400 sheep for Lemon Point, Ivawhia, and sail as soon as possible afterwards.

HOME LOADING. The loading of the s.s. Morayshire was completed on Tuesday night. The cargo consisted of 1500 quarters beef, 553 carcases lamb, and 5!) casks tallow. The Gisborne Harbor lioard has selected Maui as the name of their new dredge, now under construction by Messrs W. Simons and Co., of Renfrew, Scotland. Such Mines as Endeavor, Turanganui, Taniwiia and Hapuka were suggested, but were rejected. Plans and specifications are being prepared for two hopper barges to tender the dredge. The chairman suggests that the hoppers be made at Gisborne of either Oregon or kauri, sheathed with totara, and be ready on arrival of the dredge in May next. Tlib estimated cost of the barges is £7OO or £BOO each. BIG OCEAN RACE. News of a great ocean race from New 'York to Plymouth has arrived by the English mail. Seven large steamers were'concerned, and they carried over 2000 first-class passengers.
