The Rimu did not call at New Plymouth as ,;as expected yesterday. Owing to the heavy sea and darkness the did not work Kawhia on Tuesday evening, and consequently had no cargo to laud here. Opunake was also unworkable and the steame r passed there at about 11 a.m. .She will endeavor io I work the latter port on her return trip I from Wanganui, which port she leaves on Friday. She is due at New Plymouth on Saturday.

HBAVV WEATHER. Sydney, Wednesday.—The Ulimaroa experienced heavy weather in crossing tile western Tasman Sea. "Her. decks have heen almost continuously wet since leaving Capetown," remarked an ollieer uf the Devon to a Melbourne Argus reporter, in referring to the voyage of that vessel. Strong northerly gales, with rough seas, assailed the Devon over the greater portion of her trip across the Southern Ocean, big volumes of water breaking on board with monotonous regularity. Passengers, of whom the vessel carried HO, contrived, nevertheless, to extract a good deal of amusement under shelter. The Devon readied Houson's Bay on Thursday week. The majority of her passengers .were booked for New Zealand. The vessel is due at Wellington about Tuesday -next.

The l'atea Meat Freezing Company is shipping through Wangamii a quantity of frozen meat per Morayshire, to load in the roadstead at Wanganui this week. Several truck loads of meat from the same consignors were shipped on Saturday by thp Xerehana.
