Brocklchurst, preached, an effective sermon on the need of self-discipline. During the offertory the hand gave a fine rendering of "The Lost Chord." The band also accompanied the hymns. The contingent of the Taranaki Rides which took part in the Church parade on -Sunday were the guests of the officers of the local company at dinner at Mr. Young's Waitara Hotel. Mr. H. W. Lawrence, tJlie agricultural chemist, whose services are retained by Messrs T. Borthwick and Rons, gave an interesting lecture on the "Fertilisation of soils" at Tikorangi on Friday evening. Mr. J. Iline, junr., occupied the chair. At the close of the address Mr. Lawrence was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his instructive address. The veterans who attended Church parade on Sunday Inst were Messrs R. Wells, R. Langman and G. H. Sampson. Mr. W. T. Joli represented the returned j troopers.
