WEATHER FORECAST.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Following is Bev. D. C. Bates' weather forecast:—Moderate to strong westerly winds and changeable weather probable north of New Plymouth and Napier, and northerly winds, strong to gale, with raiu probable elsewhere. Conditions are very unsettled in the South, and a temporary rise in the barometer is expected there shortly with cold and damp weather. MB. WRAGGE'S PREDICTIONS. Gore, Last Night. Mr. Clement Wragge wires to the Ensign as follows:—"A great disturbance in the sun is expected between August 11 and 25, and within that period more earthquakes and volcanic action will probably occur. Let residents cut this out and watch cablegrams. Remember Mexico. Those having telescopes with dark glasses should observe the sun between the dates named or throw a solar image on a screen. The rear or hinder part of the disturbance 'Arnold,' which has caused such heavy weather in the North Island, is now in full play. Further gales from between the south-west and sduth-east may be expected, and more treacherous -weather on the coast in terms of Saturday's forecast. The disturbance 'Nemo' will soon follow, and the entire conditions between New Zealand and Australia are very foxy. Later 'Aneas' will succeed 'Neo,' and August promises some interesting studies in the lyrics of the atmosphere.
