TAIiATA. A considerable amount of building ha* been going on during the winter "'nutlis in this district. Extensive alterations anil improvements have .been made by Air. I'aterson, sen., Mr Thomson. and llr. Ilawke. The school „|so lias been thoroughly renovated, and is now a thoroughly equipped ami "up-lo-<lalc establishment. Tlie members of the school committee met hint Saturday and put iu a good dav's hard work iu improving the school grounds. The lii lie Club concluded the competitions for Mr. Sander's trophy. The results of last Saturday's shooting and the total marks scored by the principal members in five competitions are givejj below:

All Ihe arrangements mere cai l ied out by the ladies, including cuttnig ferns for decoration purposes, chopping wood for fuel, decorating the hall, catering for the supper, engaging the musicians, announcing the various dances, doing the work of the usual M.(.. issuing and collecting tickets, looking after the finances, and waiiln" on t)'»'r,visitors. The ladies committee, consisting of .Misses BilXler, I'aterson. liobei". Johnson, Fougerc, Hint Rice. I\. Smith, and Pratt.' deserve ' great credit fo.- their energy and taste. Misses liaxter. I'aterson, anil Roberts were excellent as M.O.'s, and Mjss R. Johnson Old grand work as secretary. Excellent music was supplied bv Messrs liingstroiu and liroadmor'c. ' The hali was well filled, atiout seventy couples being present, and a most enjoyable evening was added to the pleasant remembrances of Tarata.
