Oamaru, Last Night. For several nights mysterious lights have appeared in the neighborhood of the Kakanui ranges, and these have been watched by large numbers of people, .several using glasses; but all doubt as to their reality was set at rest this morning wJien ill*. H. D. Bailey, u settler at ICauroo Hill, and brother of the magistrate of that name, saw the airship at 8 o'clock. His attention was drawn to something unusual by the restiveness o' his horses in a yard, and, on looking up, he saw what lie. describes to a North Otago Times' reporter a.-, a shape like a boat, with a :flat top, speeding along at something like 3D miles an hour or more. After watching it for sunn* ume he ran m to fetch his glasses, but by tins time the airship had disappeared oven- hills.
Tiii' airship was also seen by several people at -Maheno, and its reality cannot therefore b 0 doubted. If this is tile same mysterious something that has been seen in South Otago and Southland, the inventor has a machine that can not only take long' nights, hut that moves at a great rate of speed. The distance between the two points is about 200 miles, THE LATEST FROM INVEIICARGILL. ' Invercargill, Last Xight. Stories of lights in the sky continue to pour in, and speculation whets tiio appetite. Nothing, however, has been seen to justify any further appearance of an " airship," and now that the sending up of lire balloons has been invested with a new joy, the difficulty of ascertaining the origin of what was originally seen has been increased.
AKIUAL LIGHTS. Dinicdin. Lant Xight. Several people, both in the city and country districts, assert that they saw strange lights in the air, either last night, early this morning or this eveniug, but their statements have added nothing in the direction of the solution of the question of whether an airship is hovering about these parte. A DUNEDIX AEROPLANE. Dunedin, Last Night. Two young men, aged It) years, residing in Alorniiigtoii, have for a few months past been building au aeroplane, which is now practically completed, with the exception that the inventors have not secured a motor for it. A trial will be made shortly, however, without the motor.
