The 'Labor leader lias moved an amendment to tlie Addrcss-iii-Kcply giving expression to a want of confidence in thGovernment. Tlie mover complained of the action of the Hon. A. 11. ft-ako (Premier) in not allowing the Premiership to remain with tlie Labor party. It is anticipated tiiat tlie Government Will have a majority of one.

The Ministerialists have selected Dr Salmon as a candidate for the Speakership of the House of Representatives, in succession to the late Sir Frederick Holder.
