THE HIiriTAXGI. Messrs Levin and Co.'s coastal steamer Iliniitangi, which was aground 011 the Eouth spit at the entrance to the Manawatu river for some days, was re-floated early on .Saturday morning. A line was made fast to a log on the opposite side of the river and the .vessel was liauled off by he r own winch. About 201) tons of coal were jettisoned, and it was intended to -bring the vessel straight to Wellington, but as there was a shortage i of coal at Foxton it was d'eeided to land the 20 tons remaining in her holds. When proceeding up the river the vessel stuck for a while, and after discharging the coal she departed for Wellington. While coming ont, as it was rather late on the tide, and the tide? being very poor, the vessel stuck again. She managed to get off,, and arrived at Wellington oil Sunday morning,' says the Times. It was considered more satisfactory to place the vessel on the patent slip for "sighting," but it is believed that she has suffered no material damage, and is not leaking at all.
The Arapawa (Patea Company) put up a,record for smart work at Wanganui on Friday. She arrived at the n'harf at 1.30 p.m., discharged her cargo of some fiftfp tons, took in twenty tons outwards, and sailed at 2.30 p.m. for Wellington, thus handling 70 tons within the hour. The l>ari|ucntine Senorita, 20 days out from Edithlrarg, South Australia, with a of salt for Wellington, arrived in Wellington on Sunday afternoon.
