E Asquith) aaflounced in the House oi Common* today that the Budget debate would be postponed, probably for a fortnight. The newspapers surmise that the All' night sittings arc a severe strain on Mr. Lloyd-George, and that the delay '» to give him an opportunity to rojoaek some of the clauses of the budget. Uur/ nine clauses out of 74 will be discussed by the traditional date of closing the session. . THE LICENSE PROPOSALS. Received 23, 10.15 p.m. London, July t& ' A Liberal Commoners' deputation informed Mr. Lloyd-George' that of the two million additional license duty' under the Finance Bill, London would pay £(180,202, while it only paid £195,851 under the old duty amounting 1 to £2,222;000. " Mr. Lloyd-George complained that - the London brewer* refuted to meet him. He waß willing to re-value the London licenses on a basis of the actual trade and tax them accordingly. He took exception to their railing the price of beer before they actually paid the duties in order to influence customers against the Government.
