(From Our Own Correspondents.) WAREA. Tile contractor, Jlr. F. 11. Giayung is making good progress with the concrete work at the cjieese factory. Some of the wooden iorjns lor the concrete walls are completed, and some of the concrete jiut in, but the wet weutner is retarding the work. Mr DaJziel, who recently went up to Tauranga in company wuh Mr. 'I. E. Larking, to look lor a farm, came back last week, having secured a 500 acre farm. Mr. Dalziel lias returned to Auckland, and 1 understand Mr. Larking will shortly leave here to manage the farm. Tiie Tauranga lauds sccnij to be all the rage here just ndw. 1 have been informed that Mr Magon has gone up to look at the country there, <tud one or two others in the district are going to take a trip there in search oi land.

A pretty wedding took place in Sit. Luke's Church on Thursday last when the marriage of Miss Emmie llolfe, fifth daughter of the late l l '. W. llolfe, Esp. to Mr. J. 0. Davidson, second son of the late Capt. Davidson, was solemnised. The Rev. J. B. Brocklehurst officiated and Mrs. W. T. Joll presided at the organ. After the eejcmuiiy a I reception was held at the residence of the bride's mother, Mrs Kolfe, when a ! large number of guests were present. j I am glad to report that Mrs Robt.. Rolfe, has been very seriously m is i now, under Dr. Walker's unremitting care and attention, making satisfactory progress toward recovery. Mr. J. \V. Foreman, President of the National Dairy Association, left for Palmerston on Thursday on business connected with the Association's llome agent scheme. The sudden resignation ol Mr. U. Mackie has rather cOuiynciuwu matters, but that "Hope springs eternal in the human heart" is exemplified by the persistence and perseverance of the promoters.

. The unemployment of many capable ami industrious men in Taranaki is uocomiag serious and it is now incumbent on the provincial executive of the Farmers' Union to justify the assertion made at one of its meetings some little time ago that work could be found ior another 1000 men on farms in Taranaki. 1) am aware that in its reply to All'. Willis the Executive stated that it was not part of its functions to find work for tile workless, tbnt surely when a crisis arises its members should not be governed by a strict and narrow lending of its rules. It is to be sincerely hoped that they will rise to the occasion and do everything in their power to ussist those who are earnestly endeavouring to relieve the situation. The reconstruction of the Cabinet did not meet with much approval here and the appointment of the Hon, ,1. Carroll as Acting-Premier 'has not improved matters. It is considered t/iat the Cabinet contains too much of the Maori element which must intensify the tendency to regard the system of white tenants paying rent to Maori landlords as an ideal one. It certainly is the irony of fate mat many who left the old land in order to escape tue aristocratic landlord now lind that t/iev have merely exchanged a white one for a brown one.
