Regarding the Police Commission, Dr. Findlay told an interviewer that though there was no intention of imposing' any limitations on the Commissioner for the I'urpose of preventing proper investigation, jet if every constable who had been discharged friini the service during years past, after full enquiry and after Ministerial decision, was able to have his complaints re-heard and his conduct re-judged, tlie Commission might have little else to do than to hear tlicni. [Moreover, the complaints made were not in any ease with regard to the dismissal of constables wiui should have been retained, hut with regard to the letention in the force of men' who should have been dismissed. All the ground concerned with these matters, the Commissioner hail the amplest authority to cover, anil Dr. Eindlay was glad. to see that .Mr. Ilishop was interpreting his pqivers with wise latitude. EXERCISE OF DISCRETION ADVISED. . Wellington, Last Night. It is understood that Inspector Ellison held 1:71 informal meeting of the members of the h/gher grades of the police force to-day. at which reference was made to .Monday night's meeting of police, and the opinion was expressed that it would be well if members of the force acted with the greatest discretion in order not to prejudice the enquiry I now proceeding,, nor the status of the force in its relation thereto.
