Word has just been received here that .Mr. Joseph Uibson, J.l'., a highly respected ironmonger at ltaetilii, was killed tlii.s morning by an explosion of gelignite. RAILWAY SHUNTER INJURED. ()amtiiu, Tuesday. | A painful accident happened to a ■ railway shunter named 11. S. Hungerford this morning at Holme's wharf. He ' was riding on the tw-catcher of a shunting engine when .by some means llis foot slipped and he was dragged under the engine, sustaining a fracture of the left leg and several llosh wounds on the right. Prompt application of the Westingliouse brake prevented a more distressing accident. REPORTED DROWNING FATALITY. A man named Bonnell is reported to have been drowned at Okaiawa yesterday, at a, ford ou the Waingongoro river between ilawcra and Okaiawa.
