PETROLEUM.
OIL AT HADLEY BORE. Persistent rumors were current in I- town last night that oil was struck in t- the Hadley Petroleum Company's bore s on the Carrington road in the evening. - The bore is understood to be perfectly S watertight. A NEW BOKE. It is reported that a local syndicate i has purchased the Omata Company's i plant with a view to sinking a bore on i a privately-owned section at Moturoa. FREEHOLD COMPANY. The indications at the Taranaki Oil and Freehold Co.'s bore on the Carrington road continually improve. The show of oil is such as to warrant the company in 'believing that they are in the vicinity of a permanent flow. AT MOTUROA. ' The Taranaki Petroleum Co. still i possess a steady producing well in the No. 2 bore. The yield last week in ! not yet available, but the flow per , hour, we understand, easily maintained the average of the previous week. Pumping operations were suspended for ' three days while tne pump was re-fitted J ' and the bore cleaned out with the sand pump. '
On the whole, the outlook for the industry toeing permanently established was never 60 promising as at the present moment.
