PRODUCE MARKETS. OPERATIONS IN BUTTER AND - CHEESE. It is stated in the latest issue of the Trade Review that the stocks of butter in cool store at the end of June amOKiited to 35,51)2 boxes, as against 40,171) boxes on 30th June, 1008. The supply has, however, been quite sufficient for local requirements. Store butter will be drawn upon now for local demand, but (production is better than at the same time last .year, and there are ani ticipations that the new supply will this ; season come in earlier than usual. The ; wholesale price is s'till 12'/ 3 d for pats i and 12d for bulk, but there are some indications of weakness, and second i quality is being sold a penny under ■ these rates. Light shipments have gone i forward for South Africa, but the en- ■ quirics for that market are coming at > lower quotations. . Store butter is l weaker in the Sydney market. A small - lot of. 350 boxes went by the lonic for 1 London last week. The Review also reports that several . factories are still making cheese, and fair shipments arc going forward by . each fortnightly steamer. The WakaI mil, on the 13th, took 2788 cases, and • the lonic on Thursday took about 1200 r cases. Locally the demand is quiet at - Od per pound for medium sizes,
