PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD
The ordinary monthly meeting was | held at Rahotu on Wednesday. Present: Messrs. J. Young, F. Bowman, T. Harvey, G. Jones, A. E. (Phillips, and R. Warner. A special order to raise the 10 per cent, on the Newall road loan was passed. Tipoka Road.—lt was decided that the drain complained of by Mr. Wright be cleared out, tho latter paying half the cost. Opua Koad. Turner and Beadle's price for a concrete top on the bridge was' accepted ut £ls 10s. lhaia Road.—Resolved, that tho forolnan sec the settlers and make arrangcI nrents for repairing the road, cost to I the Board not to exceed £lO. Ngariki Road.—Messrs. Wilicox, Henderson, and Rookes waited on the Board asking for repairs to be done. They were' prepared to supply horses and drays and cart metal from the river.— Resolved, that, with tile assistance of the settlers, the Board expend £5 towards repairs. The road is £42 overdrawn. Witiora Road.—Paki waited on the Board, complaining about bullocks on | the road damaging his property; also 'hat the road was being cut up by metal | carting—llosolvcd, that the ranger be instructed to impound all stock; the foreman to see if contractors are taking loads in excess of what tho by-lawb' allow. Opening a Road.—Jfrs. Peters asked if the Board would opeu the road near J. Harrison's (on Eltliam road).—'The foreman is to inspect and report it next meeting. Heavy Traffic.—lt was decided to take steps to have the by-laws amended to have the heavy loads reduced by onelliird. Werekino Road Board.—W. J. Stevenson wrote asking for rates due from the Parilialca' Boad Board.—The Board is- to be asked why £25 was deducted, as the Parihaka Road Board did tho loan supervision, Kina lload.—L. Luckin wrote asking for an outlet, as the water wants taking away. He offered to give a donation.—Resolved, that tenders be called for the work. ■ . Public Trustoo Grant.—The Reserves Agent rarijtc that tho Public Truatci cannot make an additional advance of £IOO unless tho settlers interested comlbine in raising money to open the road from tho Wiremu to the work now done. Accounts' amounting to £1228 Wer? passed for paymcat.
