HARBOR BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the New Plymouth Harbor Board was held yesterday. Present; Messrs. J. B. Connett (chairman), Newton King, J. Ward, R. Priee, C. A.. Wilkinson, and E. Maxwell. An apology was received from Mr. J. MeCluggage. FOllKJlAN'fc HKPORT. Tlie foreman (Mr. F. Henderson) report i'd:— Breakwater extension.—The supply of bench gravel is again rather .short, consequently only six com-vetc blocks have been made, the number on hand being 107. The quantity of stone tipped was KM! tons. One new section of 12 fe:t had b£en completed. The total length of the extension was now 552 feet.
"Wharf widening—At the wharf widening 13 piles (comprising' three bays) have heeu driven, tind live deck waling* find beams attached. The piling is' now completed, and the decking is also well {idvrneed. The principal work remaining consists of 14 sets of lower walings and braces and the lilting of the crossover beams. Forty piles of a suitable length for use in the old wharf still remain in the yard. To sheath these we require 1200 sheets of lSoz. miuitz meti)l and one bundle of felt. If these materials were procured at once, the pih« could be prepared and the driving of them proceeded with in a few weeks, when the widening will be completed. UCKAX STKAMU-S. Captain K. -J. Lvans, Marine Superintendent of the Shaw. He also informed Mr. Craigie that he intended to proceed with the Harbors Pill at the ensuing session. Tne Hoard approved the proposal. -Mr. V. W. jiarchant, consulting engineer, reported that plans of the proposed wharf extension and reclamation works were almost completed. GKXERAL. A resolution was passed requesting the Slinkling .Fund Comin|issionors to cancel the old loan debentures in thsir possession, and to pay over to the Board the funds remaining in hand.
