Lieutenant-Colonel. Okey has written the Education Board in connection with the proposal to erect an up-to-date drid hall in New Plymouth. The idea is that the site of the present drill hall, which is ncariwg the limit of its period of usefulness, should be sold, and thft proceeds of the sale devoted to the erection of a large modern drill shed o-n St. Michael's Square, where a line parade ground will be obtainable, for the volunteers and used as a playground for Central School pupils. Parliamentary sanction will probably be necessary to the carrying out of the scheme. If the Board is favorable Colonel Okey thinks there should be little trouble in putting the proposals into effect.
