AN AIRSHIP HOAX
DOCTOR'S UNKNOWN MOTIVE. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright London, July 1& The Daily Chronicle learns with tie authority of the so-called Doctor Boyd himself, that the airship story cabled on July 7 was a fabrication which he hoaxed. The Daily News says that Dr. Boyd's motive is not stated. I Tlie previous cable stated that a private syndicate, with a capital of 17250,000, was 'being formed to work Dr. M. Boyd's airship. With two companions, Dr. Boyd crossed the Irish Channel, with the utmost secrecy, at night time, last May, at a height of 3500 ft, in four hours, the distance being ninety miles, and landed near Belfast, recrossing the following night. Dr. Boyd admitted that his airship was the mysterious one reported to have been seen hovering over Caerphilly I and Cardiff (Wales), Northampton, and elsewhere a few months ago.
