Two woollen mills ha\'e been established in China, and it is anticipated that tops for these plants will also be secured from Australia. Deference to the hemp industry in St. Helena, to which country \'ow Zealand lent its chief hemp expert (Mr. Fulton) to put the industry 011 a pood footing, is made in the Txrodon "Field" by M.T.C." This writer says that the Government factory there'is under a Sew Zealand manager, Mr. Hall. Provided that the price of the fibre does not fall too low, lie believe*; the industry will he successful, because the condition? and climate are proving very suitable. It is in contemplation to import machinery to make the fibre into tiwine. as it is believed this will prove nior? profitable than the export of the fibre in bulk.
