BUSY DAY AT MOTUROA. Moturoa should present a somewhat busy appearance to-day. The Alexander and Corinna arrived last night, the Rarawa and Regulus arrive this morning, and the Eimu is due this evening, while the Government steamer Uinemoa is anchored off the breakwater. ' THE ROSAMOND. The Rosamond (brought 141 tons of cargo from Nelson, Picton and Wellington on Saturday morning, including 125 sacks of chaff, 120 ibags of rice, SO cases of kerosene, 90 sacks of phosphates, and 744 sacks of manure. She left for Onehunga in the afternoon, and returns here to-morrow. THE REGULUS. The Regulus is due at the breakwater this morning from We&tport with 500 tons of coal and 00 tons of coke for the Westport Coal Company. THE RIMU. The Rimu "is expected to arrive at the , breakwater from Wanganui this evening and to sail shortly afterwards for Kawhia and Onehunga. ' THE HINEMOA. The Hinemoa, .which is on a lighthouse tonr,'arrived off the breakwater veSt'erday from Mannkau Heads, via Waikato Heads, at which latter place beacon* have beem erected. WEMJNGTON-LYTTJ!MOX FERRY SERVICE.

Asked wftat tad been the result of his ""'"' , cotifereaces with' the representatives of the Unfyn Steamship Company with reference to the Mararpa and the substitution' 6i the Patcena. in the LytteltonWellmgton ferry srvice, Mr. Millar said that "he had met Sir James Mills, tho managing director, and the manager of the company, and they hpd informed him that the course they had taken had been necessitated by the great falling-oil :n trade. Figures had been placed before him showing the number of passengers carried by the Mararoa and the Maori, and the representatives of the company had stated that although every trip made by the Maori during the i winter months of the year resulted in ' a heavy loss, they had recognised the duty they owed to the public, and she had not been laid up. The Mararoa was also an expensive boat to maintain, and it had been decided to .withdraw her from the service until the spring months. The Lyttelton-Wellington ferry was not the only service that had suffered from the slackness of trade, as the company had withdrawn all its steamers from the New Plymouth-Mani-kau run, owing to the competition of ' the North Island Main Trunk railway. The Minister added that the replacing of the Mararoa by the (Patcena did not entail any real hardship on people travelling between Lyttelton and Wellington, ,as the Maori, the best steamer in the service, made the trip three nights in the week, and those who were not satisfied with the Pateena could travel by the Maori. After all, the Patcena, while not so comfortable as the Maori, was not a bad vessel in which to make such a short journey.

The Alexander arrived from Wcstpnrt last evening with a cargo of coal. To-day is' the 3-ltli amiiversary of the incorporation of the U.S.S. Co. of New Zealand, the company being incorporated on the 12th July, 1575.
