AN EMBEZZLER. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Melbourne, July 9. Cork, the ex-manager of the Linton branch of the Bank of New South Wales, was sentenced to three years' imprisonment with hard labor on charges of embezzling in 1900 money from thirty banks. The total shortage is stated to bo £4700. FIRE AT TOOWOOMBA. Brisbane, July 9. A fire at ToowooinW totally destroyed Piggott and Company's drapery establishment. The damage is roughly estimated at £IB,OOO. The insurances total £10,550.
