MR. AT WAXUANUI. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, last Night. Mr. Hogg addressed a public meeting tliia evening. The fairly good audience gave him a good hearing, and carried a resolution expressing the opinion that in resigning his position as Minister in deference to his convictions, Mr. Hogg JH'ted in a manner worthy ui' the highest commendation.
DEFENCE LEAGUE. Wanganui, Last Night. The Wanganui branch of the Defence League to-day accepted designs for the champion shield and belt, which arc to be competed for by .primary schools of the Dominion. The conditions will be posted to every headmaster in the course of a few days.
SEIZURES OV LIQUOR. Waihi. Tlmmdav. Jhrce seizures of liquor have already been made at railway stations in the Ohinemuri district, two at Waihi and one at l'aeroa.
DEARTH OF OYSTERS. . Wellington, Thursday. Ihe Jlanuo Department told a Post reporter that the short supply of oysters this season was due to the small area of workable beds left when the Department undertook the duty of picking liisl season. Had the present system of picking and sale been adopted a few years earlier the Department was satisfied it would have bee;i ablo to maintain a sufficient supply year after year. It is considered necessary to «o ill for planting the rocks that have been depicted. The matter is under consideration.
